beyerdynamic aims to set trend with Custom series

Responding to demand for customisation in the consumer market, beyerdynamic has released the Custom headphone series, which it hopes will start a trend within the sector. The manufacturer states that ‘within seconds’, a Custom headphone can be turned into a professional headset, and can be used for a wide range of applications.

Claiming to be the ‘world’s first’ interactive headphones, the series allows users to redesign and re-engineer their headphones at any time, including adapting the audio profile of the headphones to their personal taste or to the music they are listening to. There are four completely different profiles to choose from, ranging in style from ‘analytical’ to ‘hip-hop’.

 

Unique features include a ‘custom style system’ function that lets users choose from hundreds of designs any time, and a new variable noise reduction system which doesn’t require batteries in order to work.
Also new from the manufacturer is the TG 1000 wireless system, which boasts a bandwidth of 320MHz (470-790MHz), reportedly covering ‘virtually the entire, globally usable UHF band’ for radio microphones.

Designed for use in a variety of venues worldwide, the TG 1000 operates using 24-bit converters and proven frequency shift keying (FSK) transmission technology, whilst its ‘line of sight’ range reportedly exceeds 300m, with its dynamic range covering more than 120dB.
The inclusion of a ‘TriplePlay’ Codec combines low 1.2ms latency, high error resilience with audio quality, and the unit’s wireless transmission signal features advanced digital encryption. The TG 1000 comes with a choice of five interchangeable capsules, including dynamic and true condenser types, as well as a TG 90 ribbon.

Key features include a ‘one button’ navigation system, a large OLED display, and the inclusion of beyerdynamic's new ‘chameleon’ software. Additionally, its onboard web server communicates with any device (PC, laptop, tablet, or smartphone) and adapts to every operating environment (Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android).
Lastly, the manufacturer has launched Headzone Virtual Studio (VS) professional headphone monitoring software, which is available to download from the beyerdynamic website.

According to the German manufacturer, a pair of headphones and Headzone VS –which is available as VST and a AU-plug-in – is all that is required to generate simulations of high-end monitor speakers in real studios. Additionally, Headzone VS is not limited to just one studio, as a number of existing studios have been already been simulated, including stereo and 5.1 set-ups, and it can also be used to simulate environments for clubs, concert halls, and cars.
