beyerdynamic has announced that the new DT 1350 is the first of its professional headphone to feature Tesla technology.
The headphone, which beyerdynamic describes as ‘extremely durable and easy to use’, is reportedly suited for sound engineers monitoring PA systems, live musicians, DJs and studio use. Described as providing a ‘balanced, accurate sound’, the manufacturer claims the re-engineered Tesla drivers create ‘extremely low levels of distortion’, delivering a reported maximum sound pressure level of 129dB.
The re-engineered Tesla sound transducers reportedly help achieve an almost lossless magnetic flux. beyerdynamic states that this is made possible by the brand new system geometry, which allows the transfer of magnetic force to the voice coil to be ‘as efficient as possible’.
The manufacturer is keen to draw attention to the ring shaped magnet, which allowed its engineers to place a drill-hole directly behind the centre of the membrane in order to minimise disruptive resonances. With the Tesla principle, the magnet is mounted as a ring around the coil, reportedly allowing more energy to be directed to the membrane. beyerdynamic reports that use of a special, multilayer membrane ‘effectively suppresses unwanted partial vibrations and resultant distortion’.
Removable, soft ear cushions and a flexible headband are said to ensure the headphones sit securely and remain comfortable even during prolonged periods of use. The ear cups also swivel 90-degrees, allowing for ‘single-ear’ monitoring.
