Biamp promises flexibility scalability and reliability from Vocia 13

Designed for facilities where audio reliability and scalability are important factors, Biamp’s EN 54- and ISO 9001:2008-compliant Vocia 1.3 includes new features that result in increased functionality to its network-based system architecture.

According to the manufacturer, these new features make the Vocia 1.3 an ‘ideal solution’ for critical paging and life safety paging systems elsewhere in the world.

Vocia 1.3 introduces four new small amplifiers to the paging product line family, said to be suited for projects that have areas to be covered with small zones, or to provide local analogue inputs. The manufacturer is keen to draw attention Vocia 1.3’s new failover module, designed to provide comprehensive failover capability with a 7:1 or dual 3:1 failover. This complements the already built-in 1:1 channel failover capability in the large amplifier.

Vocia 1.3 software provides improved notification options, including more intuitive email notifications, and a System Mute option for each ‘world’ within a Vocia system (or ‘universe’). The System Mute function will mute all paging and background audio but does not mute emergency-level pages or messages.

Another improvement in Vocia 1.3 is easier system programming resulting from additional VoIP routes, support for 10,000.wav audio files in the VTP (Vocia Text Protocol) use, and alarm categories that provide better system visualisation.

Meanwhile, the manufacturer has also released a dialler application for the iPhone and iPad named the Biamp Dialer. Described by the manufacturer as an ‘innovative solution for today’s conferencing needs’, the Biamp Dialer allows users to conveniently carry their conference settings with them wherever they go, and manage calls facilitated by Biamp’s Audia and Nexia product lines.

The app offers two level controls for adjusting the audio quality and intelligibility when conferencing. By using the interface, users can access their contact list to initiate conference calls rather than using a dial pad and manually entering phone numbers. The app also has a speed dial function.

The new application is available from the Apple App Store.
