Biamp releases six new multi-channel Vocia amplifiers

Biamp has released the VA-8600 and VA-8600c networked multi-channel Vocia amplifiers, providing eight channels of modular amplification with up to 2400W of power per chassis via AM-600 and AM-600c cards, and optional channel-to-channel or device-to-device failover option.

With the addition of the new Vocia VA-8600 Failover Module (VFOM-1) card, the manufacturer reports that that failover options can be expanded to include 7:1 channel failover, or two sets of 3:1 channel failover. In the event of requiring control of external devices during paging, a page active relay module (PARM-1) card can be used.

Meanwhile, Biamp describes its new Vocia VA-2060, VA-2060e, VA-4030 and VA-4030e amplifiers as ‘ideal’ for facilities with multiple small areas or zones. These amplifiers provide a variety of options and features designed for customising systems, no matter the size of the space.

The VA-2060e and VA-4030e are described by Biamp as ‘the advanced models’ in the series, due to the fact that they can enable a user to route local channels to the output with available analogue inputs.  According to the manufacturer, no matter what the application is, these models ensure messages and pages are heard within a variety of acoustical environments. They use an ambient noise compensation (ANC-1) device for automatic ambient noise compensation.

The VA-8600C, AM-600c card, and VFOM-1 card are certified for use in an EN 54-16 life safety system.

Also new from Biamp is the VO-4, a Vocia output component capable of converting four channels of digital audio input into line-level analogue audio outputs.

Biamp claims that tailoring the outputs is easy due to an including gain feature, filters and a compressor/limiter – all operated through its software-configurable local signal processing.

The VO-4 includes an embedded DSP and on-board memory to process and store messages and configuration information locally. Other notable features is its inclusion of fixed-chain digital signal processing and its ability to receive audio and control signals over standard IP and CobraNet networks.
