BLU-HIF telephone headset announced

BSS Audio has added the Soundweb London BLU-HIF telephone headset interface to its conferencing portfolio as a compliment to the AEC Input Card and Telephone Hybrid Card.

Together, the three products are meant to provide simple integration of VoIP/digital phone systems.

The BLU-HIF facilitates connection of the headset jack of a VoIP/digital phone to an AEC input and analogue output of a Soundweb London device, allowing the VoIP/digital phone to be used as the dialing interface and hybrid for a conference system. The new interface eliminates the programming requirements associated with third-party control systems, while providing a familiar dialing interface for users. Included features are an RJ-22 jack, a balanced input (Tx) for sending near-side audio, and a balanced output (Rx) for receiving far-side audio. An additional 2.5mm jack is intended to facilitate the connection of two-way communication devices such as cellular phones.

In addition to BLU-HIF, the new BLU-BIB input expander features eight analogue audio inputs on standard terminal block connectors together with a 256-channel, low-latency, fault tolerant digital audio bus.

Intended to provide a backbone for the transportation of multiple channels, the digital audio bus also facilitates the creation of large, fault-tolerant, centralised matrices containing multiple devices. The bus uses standard Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable over a distance of 100m between devices. The front panel has been designed to offer simple configuration of phantom power per channel and input gain per channel, while statuses are displayed by LED indicators. A front panel lockout mode is also included alongside a stealth mode for inconspicuous operation in dimly lit environments. Finally, a series of DIP switches on the rear of the BLU-BIB device allow the eight input channels to be placed onto eight consecutive channels of the digital audio bus.
