Bosch DCN ‘considerably expanded’ with v1.2 software update

A software update for the DCN Multimedia Conference System from Bosch Security has delivered a ‘considerable expansion’ of the system’s features, according to the manufacturer. The version 1.2 update has added functions including the participation of up to 750 people; identification of participants at their seat (regardless of allocation); ad hoc voting at a participant’s seat; and the use of stem microphones for acoustically difficult environments.
Prior to the v1.2 update, the maximum number of people able to use a DCN system was 100 – a number that has now been eclipsed with 750 delegates able to participate. Meanwhile, the identification at seat feature allows users to sit wherever they choose and log-in, at which point their names will be displayed automatically in the list of speakers and on the camera screen. Alternately, if strict seating arrangements are required, participants are welcomed as they log in and the seats assigned to them are indicated. Passwords or systems of identification are used to prohibit unauthorised access.
Ad-hoc voting at a delegate’s seat has been enabled via the use of coloured buttons indicating ‘for’, ‘against’ and ‘abstain’ options. Votes are then tallied by the conference unit to which the task is assigned and displayed automatically on the 7-inch display of all participating multimedia devices.
Finally, acoustically challenging environments are being addressed via stem microphones, which are reportedly immune to interference from mobile phones. The microphones come in a choice of long and short goosenecks, while the Multimedia Device detects the connected microphone and adjusts the audio settings accordingly.
