Cadacs CDC Eight console boasts a high agility interface

Introducing its third new console design in a year, Cadac has released the CDC Eight, a console specifically designed for high end touring and fixed installation applications. Its standout feature is highlighted to be its ‘high agility’ user interface.

The CDC Eight’s ‘intuitive’ interface is accessed via two 24-inch 16:10 high definition LCD touch screens, whilst a further centre located six-inch LCD touch screen accesses the system control and automation. The manufacturer described the console as ‘exceptionally smart, nimble, and intuitive in its operation’ due to its incorporation of a less menu-dependant operating system.

Cadac stresses that sound quality is ‘paramount’ in its consoles, prompting the inclusion of a wide dynamic range, low noise mic pre-amp, and specially developed ultra-low distortion EQ filters and analogue emulating compressor algorithms. Completing the list of new features are 24-bit/96kHz Delta-Sigma AD/DA converters and advanced EQ algorithms, which combine to produce a ‘classic Cadac sound’ in the signal chain.

The CDC Eight features a total of 128 input channels – expandable to 256 – and 48 outputs. Two frame sizes offer 16 or 32 faders. Built upon the company’s DSP mix platform, eight 32/40-bit floating-point Sharc processors deliver processing power.

Meanwhile, the Soundking-owned brand has also announced that from now it will brand its digital product range with the CDC prefix; for example, the DM1600 is now named the CDC Four.
