Bosch Security Systems has introduced the CCS 900 Ultro Discussion System offering a host of design features that make it easy to stage meetings, including a “Possible-To-Speak” function offering a visual indication of when the microphone is available for a delegate to take the floor. Bosch’s proprietary DAFS (Digital Acoustic Feedback Suppressor) technology provides speech intelligibility, while users can listen and easily participate directly in discussions. The Control Unit can record and play back up to 64 hours of discussion using a 2GB SD card. It also features a 60 second buffer enabling the SD card to be changed when full to allow recording to continue without losing any data. The delegate and chairman units include a built-in loudspeaker, a microphone that’s activated with a single touch and two headphone sockets with volume control. The chairman units also include a priority button, which temporarily or permanently mutes all active delegate microphones and sounds an “attention” tone.
During meetings, one to four microphones can be active simultaneously, with the chairman always having speaker priority. Unused microphones are switched off automatically if delegates forget to switch off their units. To support external participants, extra microphones in wired, wireless, handheld or podium styles can be connected to the system. The plug-and-play, all-in-one CCS 900 Ultro discussion solution requires no special training for expansion up to 150 units, with the possibility of adding a wide range of other equipment and auxiliary components, including an interpretation system, language distribution, a public address system and an interface for tele/video conferencing.
The Vari-directional active line arrays can produce even distributed sound coverage up to 50m. With digitally-controlled directivity, the system’s electrical beam steering optimises audience coverage without wasting output energy on ceilings or empty space above the audience. The new array utilises configuration software that comes with a database of pre-programmed room settings to fit any acoustical environment. The installer inputs the room dimensions and requirements allowing the software to manage the rest, such as tweaking the audio processing and set supervision parameters. The loudspeakers are fully EVAC compliant, allowing them to conform to local and regional requirements in addition to all voice-alarm applications. All the amplifier and loudspeaker components including the drivers are fully supervised, for which the faults are logged. A 24V DC backup power supply is connected.
The modular-designed product range consists of a base unit and extension units that can be simply connected together. The configuration software automatically detects a connected extension unit to reduce configuration time. On its own, the base unit can cover up to 15m, while adding one extension provides coverage of up to 30m and adding two extensions provides longer coverage of up to 50m. With their sleek, unobtrusive design, they can be installed in most architecturally restrictive environments. Wall mounting is possible using mounting bracket supports that can rotate 80°, for which the units have front amplifier cooling so flush-mounting in walls is also possible.
