Chauvet’s VIP video panel is anything but exclusive

Chauvet has its sights set on both the integration and rental sectors with its new VIP video panel 4.8mm pixel-pitch videowall, while a new single pod light that operates as a blinder, strobe, wash and flood fixture is the successor to the manufacturer’s Strike 4 multi-format warm white fixture.
The VIP video panel uses magnetic LED modules and a removable control-PSU box meaning it requires no connecting cables. The manufacturer believes that this feature combined with the ability to service the panels from both the front or rear, means that the unit should operate comfortably in any scenario.
Each VIP F4 video panel features 21,632 RGB SMD 3528 black-body LEDs that reportedly offer high contrast images with a 140-degree viewing angle and 1,500 NITS luminance. A display refresh rate of 3,840Hz reportedly ensures its performance in a variety of applications, such as broadcast.
Control of the video panels can be achieved via Chauvet’s VIP Driver 43Nova Novastar Controller, which, thanks to its Novastar feature, takes a video input and outputs it over an Ethernet control System – thereby allowing the wall to mapped with the use of a computer. The Novastar protocol can be used to scale video output, adjusting colour, brightness and other parameters while providing visual feedback directly on the panels.
Servicing is also stated to be highly user-friendly. The magnetic tiles can be removed using the manufacturer’s MT-03 tool. When swapped, the ‘Memory on Module’ design calibrates and matches the brightness with surrounding panels. The screwless front also means that installation is a ‘clip-on’ procedure.
Moving from video to lighting, the newest member of the Strike series, the Strike 1, is essentially a scaled-down version of the Strike 4. It houses a 230W warm white LED source, is an IP65 outdoor-rated fixture and offers 16-Bit diming control with the ability to redshift the colour temperature as it dims to replicate the look of an incandescent fixture.
The light runs on DMX, RDM protocols and has 2-, 3-, 4- or 5-channel DMX modes as well as 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-channel personalities. It also has built-in automated programs and Remote Device Management capability.
