CL-12 supports whole 6-series thanks to firmware update

A firmware update for Sound Devices’ CL-12 linear fader controller means it is now able to provide support for the manufacturer’s entire 6-series of field production mixers. The v2.11 release provides support for the 664 and 633 mixers as well as additional features.

The CL-12 was initially introduced as an optional live mixing accessory for the 688 mixer/recorder. With the CL-12, the 664 and 633 gain sunlight-viewable, 22-segment LED metering, plus seven-segment PFL metering with limiter activity. It also offers three user-programmable buttons as well as numerous dedicated back-lit buttons for quick access to key functionalities.

When working with the CL-12, the 664 has a 54dB linear fader range across 12 linear faders, high pass filter control on channels seven to 12, and input phase control on channels two, four and six. When attached to a CL-12, the 633 has a 96dB linear fader range available across six linear faders, high pass filter control on all channels, and input phase control on channel two.

In addition to CL-12 support, the v2.11 firmware brings several new features to the 664 and 633. This includes QR Codes for quick smartphone access to online documentation, such as an approved media list and the user guide for that product. It also offers a user bits mode that allows jamming of external timecode user bits.

There have also been firmware developments over at sister company Video Devices, with the release of v1.30 for the full range of Pix-E series of monitors. The update means the monitors can offer an expanded anamorphic desqueeze feature set, an LCD orientation menu for greater positioning flexibility and enhanced false colour capabilities. Additionally, 6G-SDI has been expanded to include support of 4K over single SDI cable for Arri Amira cameras. Previous firmware introduced this feature for Blackmagic Ursa cameras. Also, with the release of v1.30, the Pix-E Series now has the ability to send timecode over SDI out.

The release also offers a new system/screen saver sub-menu which lets users configure the activation timer for a new screen saver. Users can also capture screenshots as JPG or PNG still images.
