Clear-com updates Concert to v26

The Concert intercom over IP system from Clear-Com has been upgraded to v2.6, with the manufacturer promising that the update has been ‘enhanced with several new features to expand upon its compatibility, intelligibility and ease of use’.

Concert provides professional voice conferencing and intercom capabilities over the Internet or a standard local area network, using the kind of interface more usually associated with online social networking chat clients. Users can conduct individual conversations or create group conferences by drag and dropping multiple contacts into the group.

Version 2.6 of the software adds Mac and Windows 7 support for the first time, while another new feature offers users the option to purchase a server which is already pre-loaded with the Concert 2.6 software, thereby simplifying the installation process regardless of the user’s IT knowledge.

Other new features include an automatic client software update function, which posts an alert directly on the Concert user interface every time a new version of the client software becomes available, echo cancellation to negate feedback, and an auto-interrupt function to ensure that priority messages supersede ongoing program feeds. The Concert v2.6 update can be downloaded from the Clear-Com website (see below).

Also new from the manufacturer is the HME DX210 two-channel wireless intercom system, which Clear-Com describes as ‘the perfect blend of wireless intercom performance and system compatibility with wired intercom systems’.

Intended to replace the DX200 and operating in the 2.4GHz band, the DX210’s wired intercom interface is now compatible with Clear-Com’s or RTS’ two-wire systems, and provides two separate two-wire and four-wire interconnections.

A new digital auto-nulling circuit reportedly allows users to automatically eliminate the return audio of the wired two-wire intercom. The system also offers two-wire circuit protection to prevent feedback from un-terminated two-wire channels.

The 1RU base station supports up to 16 full-duplex and 44 half-duplex beltpacks and/or wireless headsets by linking four base stations. The DX210 is paired with the BP210 beltpack and all-in-one WH210 wireless headset communicators, which have two intercom buttons (IC1/IC2) with ISO. The system is also backward compatible with the DX200 Communicator models such as BP200, WH200 and WS200 (wireless speaker station).
