ComTech DriveCore series

Crown Audio has introduced the ComTech DriveCore series of four amplifiers, featuring flexible input routing and universal power supply.

The convection-cooled, energy efficient amplifiers offer up to eight channels and 150W per channel in a one-unit chassis without a fan.

According to the manufacturer, the Integrated DriveCore technology – which was designed in collaboration with Texas instruments – offers in excess of 90 per cent efficiency with a signal-to-noise ratio of 110dB. Patented feedback and protection circuits have also been integrated into the silicon for fast and accurate response. Conforming to Harman Professional’s Green Edge environmental initiative, the CT475, CT875, CT4150 and CT8150 amplifiers are convection-cooled and Energy Star 2.0 compliant. New components used in the manufacturing of the amps has also reportedly led to a significant weight reduction – each amplifier weighs 5kg - and less energy consumption.

Meanwhile, the PIP-USP4 has been announced as the fourth generation DSP-based PIP (programmable input processor) module for CTs Series 2-channel amplifiers.

The Harman HiQnet series component connects to the audio control/monitor network using 100MB Ethernet hardware, while the USP4’s OMNIDRIVE HD processor offers 24-bit, 192 kHz Cirrus Logic SHARC A/D and D/A converters and true 96kHz processing. Other features include level MAX peak, RMS and transducer thermal voltage limiters, proprietary FIR and IIR filters, auto standby, SLM (sweep load monitoring) with system-level diagnostics, and 25 user selectable presets and over two seconds of delay per channel.
