Crestron targets analogue A/V distribution with DM-MD64X64

Crestron’s 64X64 DigitalMedia switcher, otherwise known as the DM-MD64X64, has been optimised to meet high-definition and analogue A/V distribution requirements for large commercial facilities such as stadia, arenas, universities and corporate enterprises.
The switcher is reportedly capable of accepting, managing and distributing 64 A/V sources of virtually any signal type across long and short distances over a Cat-5e wire or fibre cable on a single platform. It also boasts the inclusion of a modular blade I/O expansion system and a built-in 15-inch colour touch screen. The latter feature allows for complete setup and operation with ‘button-touch simplicity’ whilst serving as a single point of control for diagnostic testing.
Meanwhile, the new hot-swappable modular blade I/O expansion system has been designed to make it easy to configure, modify and upgrade a DM system in the field,
giving a user the ability to make changes to the system as requirements change. Key to its appeal is the inclusion of redundant power supplies that ensure continuous operation in mission critical applications, with each of its two onboard power supplies boasting a reported MTBF (mean time between failures) of over 500,000 hours.
Input and output blades are offered to support the choice of HDMI, DM 8G+ HDBaseT, DM 8G fibre and DM 8G single-mode fibre. Each blade provides eight inputs or outputs of any one type and integrates both copper and fibre outputs on the same platform. The DM-MD64X64 also includes a built-in web server and includes new Auto Locking technology that works to deliver high-speed switching times.
Uncompressed 1080p HD video with Deep Colour, 4K Ultra HD projectors, 3D video, and high-definition computer signals, plus HD digital audio, control, data and Ethernet can be transmitted up to 100m over DM 8G cable, 300m using CresFiber 8G, or 12km via DM 8G single mode fibre.
