Crestrons next generation DigitalMedia 8G+

Described by Crestron as ‘the next generation’ of its high output, onewire digital A/V network infrastructure technology, DigitalMedia 8G+ is designed to make implementation of a DM network easier by offering a choice of standard CAT5e, DM 8G Cable or CresFiber 8G.

Described by Crestron as providing a ‘future-proof’ infrastructure, DigitalMedia is an engineered, end-to-end solution that carries virtually any mix of digital and analogue A/V signals over a single wire.

Uncompressed 1080p HD video with colour, 3D video, and 1900 x 1200 computer signals, plus HD digital audio, control, data, and Ethernet, are transmitted 100m over standard CAT5e or DM 8G cable, or approximately 300m using CresFiber 8G.

Also new from the manufacturer is its new Fusion EM software, which is a scalable framework which provides organisations with the means to monitor and manage lighting, energy and A/V whilst tracking a company’s carbon footprint.

Suitable for schools, universities and corporate offices, Fusion EM allows a user to change and re-schedule temperature set points and lighting levels. The manufacturer reports that Fusion EM saves energy by automatically turning off any lights that are not in use, and by reducing HVAC use in unoccupied spaces.

The Crestron Fusion platform expands upon the Crestron RoomView Server Edition (SE) platform by including scalable redundant architecture and multiple front-end components. Fusion RV software is included in this software, and provides A/V, help desk, meeting scheduling, and technology management options. The all-new Fusion EM, meanwhile, provides energy management and tracking. Both front-end components coexist on the same server platform and share the same architecture.

Fusion EM tracks all lighting loads and provides a bar graph showing real-time and historical energy consumption. Users have the option of viewing energy consumption data by day, week, month or year, and can compare these numbers to a previous time period.
