Digigram has released Cancun; a range of mobile USB sound cards intended for audio professionals and reporters. The models in the series comprise the four-in four-out Cancun 442-mic, and the two-in two-out Cancun 222-mic.
Offering two x 500 Mips dual-core processing power in a ‘slim line’ hardware design, the manufacturer highlights some of the series’ key features to be the inclusion of a mic preamp (boasting 55dB gain), a professional analogue level of +24 dBu, and the guarantee of low latency measuring fewer than three milliseconds on Windows and Mac OSX platforms. Cancun also incorporates simultaneous analogue and AES I/Os, and Digigram reports that the user interface facilitates ‘quick setup and efficient monitoring’ on both Windows and Mac OSX platforms.
Hidden beneath the surface, Cancun’s design incorporates a thin touch panel with LED lights, as well as housing as a Neutrik XLR plug for professional microphones. Meanwhile, an included software application presents the user with relevant information regarding the sound card, providing information on gain values, driver setup, current state, VU meters, and locks.
Also new from the manufacturer is its PCX-LW sound card, which Digigram designed with the aim to bridge radio automation solutions to and from an Axia Livewire-compatible network.
Designed for broadcasters equipped with Axia consoles, the new sound card is described by Digigram as ‘a real improvement over a purely software approach’.
