Discharge returns for GLP

GLP has returned to its discharge lamp heritage with the GT-1 hybrid spot, beam and wash fixture. ‘Discharge is nothing new for us – it’s where the whole GLP journey began, and we’re pleased to be exploring the possibilities of this technology once again to deliver a unique solution,’ stated GLP founder Udo Künzler.

GT-1 calls on a 470W discharge lamp to produce a beam with a reported 22:1 ratio zoom range, from 2.5-degrees to 55-degrees. In Spot mode the fixture offers CMY colour mixing, eight rotating gobos, 14 fixed pattern gobos, additional beam reduction gobos and an interchangeable animation wheel. It also features three different rotating prisms, a fixed colour wheel with CTO/CTB filters and a wash effect. In Beam mode the GT-1 delivers a parallel beam of light at 2.5-degrees through its 145mm diameter front lens.

Away from the optics, GT-1 offers the manufacturer’s baseless chassis, inbuilt wireless DMX control, 16-bit pan and tilt movement and dimming and shuttering capabilities. It has a built-in battery, an auto-sensing power supply and weighs in at 25kg.

In other news, the German manufacturer has also unveiled a Battery and Wireless DMX pack for its X4 Atom light which it believes will add flexibility to any existing Atom head. The accessory is IP65-rated for outdoor use, it offers a reported run time of eight hours and is fully rechargeable. Wireless DMX is provided by technology from Lumen Radio.
