DNS 8 Live with fail-safe audio bypass

CEDAR Audio has announced the introduction of an updated DNS 8 Live that, in response to customers' requests, now offers a fail-safe audio bypass function.

The DNS 8 Live multi-channel dialogue noise suppressor is claimed by CEDAR to offer ‘near-zero latency’. It is suitable for use in all live situations – not just live-to-air broadcasting – and also live sound in venues such as theatres, concert halls, conferences venues, and places of worship. A standard four-pin 12VDC input has been included – allowing the unit to be powered by a portable power supply – while remote control is provided by the DNS 8 RC software that allows for control via laptops, iPads and other devices that support common web browsers.

The new audio bypass has been implemented in the form of hardware relays that immediately connect the inputs to the outputs in the event of a power failure or other significant disruption. This allows the DNS 8 Live to be installed in critical paths within the broadcast chain.

Other key features of the DNS 8 Live include eight channels of dialogue noise suppression, a ‘Detail’ mode for permanent installations, a DNS algorithm with learn mode and rapid set-up per channel, and a universal PSU and 12VDC input. The unit comes in a 1U rack mount format.
