Double channel density for Lab E Series
Published: PRODUCTS

The E Series of commercial install amplifiers from Lab.gruppen has grown with the addition of the first four-channel models in the range, the E 10:4 and E 5:4, plus a two-channel model named the E 2:2. All of the amplifiers occupy 1U of rack-space.
The launch of the four channel models means that the E Series can now offer eight channels configurable as any of 21 different power output and channel combinations in the same rack space as one of the manufacturer’s 2U C Series units. Examples include one-to-one alternatives for the C 20:8X (with two E10:4 in a 2U space) and the C 10:8X (with two E 5:4 units).
Looked at individually, the E 10:4 is now the flagship of the range with a reported maximum rating of 1,000W at 4, 8, or 16-ohms or into 70V. Nominal maximum output per channel is 250W, but according to Lab.gruppen, its proprietary asymmetric power loading means one channel can produce output beyond the nominal maximum when other channels have lower power requirements. Additionally, each channel may be individually optimised to drive either a low impedance (4-ohms to 16-ohms) or a 70 V load. The E 10:4 is also certified Energy Star 3.0 compliant. Meanwhile, the E 5:4 offers a reported maximum rating of 500W (four x 125W nominal), while the two channel E 2:2 delivers 100W per-channel.
All six E Series amplifiers include the manufacturer’s IDEEA (IntelliDrive Energy Efficient Amplifier) output stage plus a Rail Switching Limiter circuit for optimising output. Detachable screw terminal blocks are onboard for input (balanced) and output connections. Other features include a 50Hz high pass filter switchable per channel, auto power on/off functionality, GPI facility for external control, comprehensive circuit protection and fault indication, and low-noise temperature controlled fans.
