Drag and drop DSP from Rane

The new HAL system from US-based manufacturer Rane has been designed to offer drag-and-drop DSP, negating the need for intricate matrix mixing or presets for room combining and paging.
According to the manufacturer, the system means that virtual wiring is no longer required for the distribution of pages and BGM to multiple zones.
HAL can be interfaced to an application with a variety of peripheral devices such as smart digital remotes, remote audio devices (RADs), portable and in-rack auto mixers, bus expansion devices and an advanced paging station. In addition, HAL and Halogen software check the status, location, Cat-5 wiring integrity, and the audio flow in all peripheral devices, so the operator knows that the system is functioning correctly. HAL is fully compatible for integrating with existing Rane products such as gain-sharing auto mixers and RADs.
Elsewhere, Rane’s Commercial Processor (CP) series processors for BGM and paging systems has been expanded with the release of the CP66, which is intended for operating up to six zones.
Ranes’ CP products to date have been largely confined to smaller restaurant and retail applications, but the CP66 has been designed for larger systems. Three optional Cat-5 connected remote accessories provide zone volume (DR1), source selection with volume or multi-zone volume control (DR3) and remote page zone selection with push-to-talk paging station (PAGER2). The 2RU rack height front panel allows complete set-up without a computer, although the rear USB port permits configuration set-up with optional included setup software.
