DSA Series amps benefit from 64-bit DSP

With the addition of 64-bit digital signal processing, German manufacturer 4 Acoustic has debuted its DSA series appliers. The 96Khz Class-D devices promise ‘excellent sound quality’, a large dynamic range, state-of-art protection systems and high reliability.

Consisting of two models – the   – the DSA series amps have been designed for both fixed installations and mobile applications. The DSA-4210 features four 2,100W channels (4-Ohms) or four 1,200W (8-Ohms). The higher-powered four channel DSA-4300 on the other hand can produce 3,000W (4-ohms) or 2,000W (8-ohms). Both units have a signal-to-noise ratio of greater than 105dB.

Based on the manufacturer 216 series speaker management system, the DSP features a 96kHz sample rate and a dynamic range of 118db for the analogue inputs. Users can set up 10 parametric filters, limiters and a delay of up to 2 seconds, and also have the ability to store up to 45 presets or quick recall via the illuminated front panel buttons. Additional controls on the front panel include a power switch, individual gain controls, a USB connector, and a DSP selector switch; whilst connections on the rear include a mains Powercon connector, two balanced XLR inputs, two balanced XLR link through connectors, four Speakon outputs and a DSP LAN connection.

The included user Software can be used both as a configuration tool and for live monitoring, and is compatible with both Windows and Mac computers. It offers a graphical overview of parameters such as grouping of amplifiers, graphical editing of parametric EQs, and adjustable delay in metres, feet, inches, seconds and milliseconds.

There are also a whole host of protection systems onboard to prolong the life of the unit. These include power protection, current overload protection, over-voltage, under-voltage, temperature control, DC protection, peak clipping and amplitude limiting, VHF protection and temperature controlled fans. All of which can be monitored via the front panel display.
