Duran Audio gets 2D with DDA 3.2

Duran Audio has recently released the latest version of its Digital Directivity Analysis software (DDA). Previously 3D room models could be imported into DDA from Google SketchUp, CATT Acoustic or Odeon, but DDA 3.2 allows users to build simple rooms using the 2D geometry builder, which is particularly suited for simple set ups or touring applications.

DDA was first developed as a tool to allow sound designers to implement Duran Audio’s Digital Directivity Synthesis algorithm. DDA was originally developed to generate the FIR filters required to synthesise the correct dispersion from an Intellivox or Target array, and now it has moved on to offer a full 3D modelling and prediction environment.

In addition to the new 2D geometry builder, Duran Audio has also turned its attention to DDS Algorithms to improve directivity control and reduce the latency of DDS products.

Meanwhile, Duran Audio has also launched Version 2.0 of its iOS Control App, which was designed primarily for users of Duran Audio’s Sound Reinforcement range of loudspeakers: Axys Flex, Scope, Source, Target and Beam Shaping Subwoofers. The app connects to the loudspeakers using a Wi-Fi to RS-485 convertor and the new version supports multiple controllers.

With Version 2.0, a user can create groups of units, whilst a  new XML based project file stores settings. The newest version also provides the ability to reset the volume, delay and EQ of all units.

Although the Control App is aimed primarily at the entertainment industry, it does support all Axys by Duran Audio products, including the company’s Intellivox range.
