Ecler aims for install with Arqis and IC Class

Five models are leading the introduction of the Arqis range of speakers for permanent installation, with manufacturer Ecler promising a broader range to follow. Primarily targeted at public spaces such as shopping malls, sports centres, auditoriums, corporate facilities, restaurants and theme parks, the speakers are intended to blend in architecturally without comprising on performance.

Constructed with wooden enclosures and offering both horizontal or vertical mounting options, the range begins with the Arqis 105, a 70W model with 90-degree x 90-degree coverage delivered by a 5.25-inch woofer and 1-inch tweeter. Next, the Arqis 106 has a 6.5-inch woofer with a 1-inch HF section, and is rated at 120W with a dispersion of 90-degrees x 60-degrees. The 150W Arqis 108 has a dispersion of 90-degrees x 60-degrees with an 8-inch woofer and 1-inch tweeter, while the Arqis 205 houses dual 5.25-inch woofers and a single 1-inch HF compression driver for 140W performance and 90-degree x 60-degree coverage. Finally, the Arqis 208 is rated at 300W, houses two 8-inch woofers and a 1-inch HF compression driver and covers 90-degrees x 60-degrees.

All of the models are available in either black or white and come with suitable mounting gear. The current models are also due to be joined by larger alternatives with 10-inch and 12-inch woofers, plus three subwoofers.

Also new from the manufacturer is the IC Class of ceiling loudspeakers, for quick installation using basic tools.

The IC6Class-TR is a two-way 75W RMS loudspeaker combining a 6-inch Kevlar woofer with a 1-inch silk dome tweeter protected by an aluminium front grille. With five tappings available, its 16-ohm high impedance built-in transformer allows multiple units to be connected in parallel to a standard audio or 70V / 100V line audio amplifier. Based on the same design, the IC6Class-54 model conforms to EN54-24 standards and comes with a fire rated back can, ceramic connection terminals, a thermal fuse and internal FR wiring.

In addition, the Barcelona-based company has redesigned the IG108 in-ground loudspeaker. New enhancements to the IP65-rated outdoor model include a new cosmetic finish, outdoor UV protection against colour fading and updated electronics with a crossover filter. Combining an 8-inch Kevlar woofer with a 1-inch silk dome tweeter, the 100W RMS rated IG108 comes with an 8-ohm high impedance built-in transformer, although it can operate in 70V/100V line mode at 7.5W, 15W, 30W and 60W tappings. Operable within a 50Hz to 23kHz frequency range and capable of producing a maximum SPL of 92dB, the speaker displays an omni-directional horizontal coverage pattern over a radius of 4m to 6m.
