Electro-Voice EVU enclosures added to EV-Innovation range

Electro-Voice has introduced EVU ultra-compact enclosures as the latest member of the EV-Innovation family of installation-dedicated loudspeakers.

Four EVU systems support and complement the other members of the EV-Innovation range – such as the EVA true line array, EVF front-load, and EVH horn-load – when used for delay, under-balcony, front-fill, wall-mount and distributed audio applications.

The single-woofer EVU-1062/95 incorporates a 6.5-inch woofer and is the most compact enclosure at 200mm in height and 350mm in depth, yet system power-handling capacity and sensitivity are quite high at 160W continuous and 92dB 1 W/1 m respectively. Meanwhile, the EVU-2062/95 is a dual 6.5-inch woofer system with increased power handling (300W) and sensitivity (94dB) for a 5dB increase in maximum output.

The single 8-inch woofer EVU-1082/95 model offers twice the maximum output than its 6.5-inch counterpart (+3 dB), whilst the dual 8.5-inch woofer EVU-2082/95 model doubles the maximum output again. For both the dual-woofer systems, one woofer is ‘shaded’, meaning its high-frequency response is rolled off before the crossover frequency, in order to usefully reduce the inevitable midrange interference of spaced woofers.

Available in a finish of black or white, all four EVU systems employ an ICT-1-8 small-format high-frequency compression driver with a 1.3-inch titanium diaphragm, mounted on a six-inch-square, 90-degree by 50-degree rotatable waveguide. Additionally, 18dB octave passive crossover/EQ networks are tuned for under-balcony and front-fill applications, optimising mid- and high-frequency performance for ideal alignment to the main system. The asymmetrical enclosure shape provides an appropriate vertical aiming angle for both under-balcony and stage-lip applications, whilst a rear-mounted input panel is equipped with a four-pin Phoenix/Euroblock screw-terminal connector.

The input panel accepts an optional EVU-TK60 60-W 70.7/100-V input transformer (taps at 60, 30, 15, and 7.5 W) and six M8 threaded suspension points and rear OmniMount brackets together with a U-bracket come as standard.
