Working with Manley Labs, Universal Audio’s Massive Passive EQ plug-in represents the company’s most ambitious hardware EQ modelling project to date, bringing UAD-2 users both the standard and mastering versions of this EQ in one package.
The two-channel, four-band Manley Massive Passive EQ uses design strengths from choice console, graphic, parametric and Pultec EQs. Upon its release, the UAD-2 version set the online community alight, with demand even seeing the Universal Audio website go down very briefly.
Meanwhile, the EMT 140 Classic Plate Reverb plug-in for the UAD platform has received just as warm a welcome, if slightly less hysterical. The plug-in replicates the signature of three different EMT 140 plates formerly installed at the Plant Studios in Sausalito, and is licensed and endorsed by EMT Studiotechnik as the world’s only authentic EMT plate reverb emulation.
Finally, as the newest member of UA’s analogue product line-up, the 4-710D Twin-finity mic preamp and DI with dynamics combines UA’s classic design approach with several modern innovations. At the heart of the 4-710D design are four channels of Twin-finity preamps with true-bypass and 1176-style compression. Based on the 710 Twin-Finity preamp, each of the four preamp channels allows for continuously variable tone between full tube and full solid-state.
