Extron Foxbox focuses on fibre

The Foxbox HDMI from Extron has been introduced as a fibre optic transmitter and receiver set for the long-haul transmission of HDCP-compliant HDMI video, audio, and RS-232 control signals.

The unit is reportedly capable of delivering pixel-for-pixel transmission of HDMI computer-video images up to WUXGA 1920x1200 resolution, including HDTV 1080p/60. Available in multimode and single-mode formats, it boasts functions including key minder (offering continuous authentication of HDCP compliance), EDID minder, auto input memory, RS-232 control from multiple locations, internal test patterns, and real-time system monitoring.

The Foxbox is can also be used in combination with Extron’s Fox Series distribution amplifiers, switchers, and matrix switchers, offering flexibility in system creation, plus the Fox VGA and DVI extenders.

Elsewhere, the manufacturer has announced the addition to its range of pre-terminated and bulk fibre-optic cables, cable termination tools, field-installable connectors, and test equipment. Bend-insensitive, plenum-rated bulk cable and factory-terminated cable assemblies in various lengths are available in both OM4 multimode and singlemode versions.
