Faster calculations from Ease 4.4

Ahnert Feistael Media Group (AFMG) has released a new version of Ease, the company’s room acoustics modelling program. Version 4.4 of the software provides expanded import/export functionality and optimised caluculations.
For version 4.4 import/export functions are now compatible with Trimble SketchUp, Autodesk AutoCAD and other, DXF-compatible CAD programs. Also, STI calculations are now performed according to IEC 60268-16:2011.
The Ease suite consists of two different program versions and three optional modules to cover all aspects of acoustical simulations. The Aura module, an add-on for Ease, uses ray-tracing to perform its calculations. The latest version supports multi-threading, which the German manufacturer states performs ‘computations of large projects approximately twice as fast as they have been previously’.
Additionally, the module can output locally calculated impulse responses in Ambisonics B-format. This format can then be used for auralisations in specialised listening rooms to produce full surround sound field played back on multi-channel loudspeaker setups.
To accommodate the introduction of Ease 4.4, the company will be withdrawing support for Ease 3 at the end of 2014.
