Universal Audio has issued its 4-710d tone blending multi-channel preamplifier.
The new model features four channels of 710 Twin-Finity preamps in a single unit, 1176-style compression per preamp channel with the option of two settings, controlled or extreme compression sounds, and an eight‐channel A/D convertor with AES/EBU and ADATS/MUX Out. It also includes gain reduction metering on the pin-style VU metering, balanced inserts per preamp, an eight channel A/V convertor, and a 1-8 switch giving users protection over A/V clipping.
Input options for channels 1-4 include XLR Mic and Line inputs, XLR Line output and TRS Balanced Send/Return which is switchable from the front panel, and insert sends are always active so when not in use, can be used as a balanced split. Its 1176-style compressor features two settings; one for control over the dynamics, and one for the sound. It also includes A/D Metering, Clock Lock status, 24/16-bit switch, and an A/D Limit.
Access channels 5-8 of the built in A/D convertor make it suitable for connecting a second 4-710d. Additional included features include; AES/EBU Single Wire and ADATS/MUX (up to 192kHz), word clock I/O and termination.
