Genelec launches audio over IP solution

Genelec has launched its audio-over-IP solution.

The manufacturer reports its IP solution is fully standards-compliant and can co-exist and co-operate as a part of other standards-compliant IP audio approaches currently under development, such as Ravenna or AVB (Audio Video Bridging). It claims the solution can deliver an audio transmission that does not require a separate clock master device or any currently non-existing functionality in IP switch devices.

The Genelec IP solution is compatible with USB sound card support that exists in most computer platforms and operating systems. The accurate clock synchronisation is maintained by the transmitter device.

Genelec’s new 9000A provides volume control for all Genelec monitors/loudspeakers. Visually designed to appear as a miniature version of Genelec’s 5040A Active Subwoofer, the volume control input and output have 3.5mm stereo male and female connectors for connectivity with PCs, laptops, MP3 players and game stations.

The connecting cable on 9000A is Y-shape and splits into two 1m cables; one for audio input, one for audio output. A converter cable will be required when used with audio equipment with RCA / XLR outputs. The 9000A is available in black, silver and white.
