Nugen Audio has upgraded its Halo Upmix plugin to enable multichannel-to-multichannel upmixing, which it states will save the user time, as well as adding ‘new levels of versatility’ to surround sound production. The plugin is used to upmix stereo audio to surround sound.
The new version adds algorithms for upmixing LCR, Quad (4.0), 5.0, 5.1, 7.0 and 7.1 multichannel audio to 5.1, 7.1, or 9.1 surround. In addition to this, a 9.1 option has been included to enable a vertical dimension to be added to the upmix for 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos compatible audio. The upgrade is free for exisiting Halo Upmix users.
The audio tools manufacturer has also released the AMB Audio Management Batch Processor modular software suite that reportedly facilitates a range of tasks to streamline and accelerate workflows, particularly within a postproduction environment. It features threaded algorithm processing that allow files and queues to be handled simultaneously.
AMB is scalable so that postproduction facilities can opt for the processing modules required and tailor the system to specific needs. A pair of watch folders/processing queues are included and the system can also be expanded with the AMB Thread Expansion taking the total number of active threads to 16. It boasts a range of module options, such as Upmix, Loudness, DynApt, MXF and ProRes and is available on Windows and OSX.
