HiCon removes the solder for cable connections

Sommer Cable division, HiCon Connectors, has removed the need for solder with its Screw and Play DIY phono/RCA connector assembly. According to Pascal Miguet, product and sales manager at Sommer Cable, ‘AF audio cables can be assembled within a few minutes due to the convenient screw connection’.
The assembly offers thermoplastic plastic insulation, gold-plated contact surfaces and form-locking strain relief. Sommer recommends the HiCon RCA/phono connector for a wire cross-section between 0.34mm² and 1.00mm² (22 – 18 AWG).
