HK Audio takes aim at the mid-market with Linear 5 LTS

Intended to appeal to small and mid-sized rental partners plus the mid-level installation sector, the Linear 5 LTS passive mid-high unit and Linear Sub 4000 subwoofer have been launched by HK Audio. According to the manufacturer, the system is capable of ‘throwing the entire frequency spectrum over 30m and beyond’.
HK Audio is claiming that Linear 5 LTS is the first speaker to deliver true long throw performance in an ultra-compact format, catering for audiences of up to 3,000. Comprising three 8-inch neodymium mid-high drivers plus a single 1-inch neodymium tweeter, the system boasts an MCT (Multicell Transformer Technology) waveguide and power handling rated at 600W (RMS), 1,200W (programme) and 2,400W (peak). Filter presets are available for Lab.gruppen’s IPD controllers.
Accompanying the mid-high unit is the Linear Sub 4000, a single 18-inch subwoofer (with a 2.5-inch voice coil) covering 30 to 100Hz. The sub has a peak SPL of 137dB half space (at 10 per cent THD), a nominal impedance of 4-ohms and weighs 57.1kg.
