IC Audio concentrates on power

Designed for critical voice alarm applications, a new emergency power supply manager from German manufacturer IC Audio is intended to ensure that DC (24V) power continues to flow in accordance with EN 54-4 regulations in the event of a power failure.
Named the EPM 6-30-EN54, the 19-inch, 2RU unit is equipped with six fused outputs (fuses up to 40A applicable per output), each of which can be used with up to a 30A load. It can be used as a power and charging device and is equipped with a total discharge protection and temperature controlled end-of-charge voltage circuit. Meanwhile, smart battery condition monitoring is included to ensure an uninterrupted power supply to consumers and battery recharging as soon as the mains power is restored. Cooling is managed by a temperature-controlled fan.
Crucially, batteries can be hot-swapped without service interruption, though the batteries themselves, the battery cable set and the battery fuse are not included in the initial purchase.
Also new is the ZPM 4000, an impedance measuring instrument that allows the accurate measurement of impedance and phase. Boasting a tunable test frequency range of 25Hz to 25kHz, the unit is intended to facilitate that detection of line and speaker impedances in 100V systems plus all test frequencies used in monitored voice alarm systems.
The ZPM 4000 is housed in rugged plastic with a smudge-proof plastic foil keypad. A two line backlit LCD display with 16 characters per line is also included in the design for monitoring results which can then be saved to the unit’s internal EEPROM memory. Power is via four AA-sized batteries.
Finally, the manufacturer has introduced a hanging sphere speaker named the DL-K 16-130/T. Described as ‘compact and inexpensive’, the 16W loudspeaker has a full range 130mm chassis and reportedly offers a high sound pressure level and a balanced frequency response.
