Innovative ceiling microphones from Audix
Published: PRODUCTS
Responding to requests from clients wanting miniature microphones to be concealed from view, Audix has introduced the M40 and M70 overhead ceiling miking systems.
Described by the manufacturer as ‘the next phase of product development for the Micros Series’, the M40 and M70 are designed to capture and reproduce high quality audio from an overhead ceiling height of 2m to 3m whilst minimising room noise and ambient sound. The M40 features a hanging gooseneck design, while the M70 features a low profile flush mount design where the mic disappears from sight.
The M40 is available in white and is available in lengths of 6- and 12-inches. Optional models include a choice of hypercardioid and supercardioid polar pattern. Meanwhile, the M70, (available in white or satin nickel finish) features a highly directional cardioid capsule on a swivel mount that enables the mic to be angled up to 45-degrees towards the audio source.
Audix states that both microphones are easy to install, and that the cable is terminated with a Phoenix connector. The mating connector is also provided to complete the cable path of the audio. Additionally, an optional metal junction box is available for jobs where a fire code is required.
Both microphones require 18 – 52V phantom power for operation and exhibit complete immunity from RF caused by cell phones and other GSM devices.
