Alesis has introduced two new interfaces in the shape of the iO4 USB audio interface and the MultiMix 16 USB FX audio mixer.
The compact, four-channel iO4 USB audio interface is intended for home recording setups and works with either Mac or PC-based systems. Users can record and monitor up to eight channels of audio (4 in, 4 out) at 16-bit, or four channels (2 in, 2 out) at 24-bit. Inputs include XLR connections, ¼-inch TRS inserts for external effects units, and a ¼-inch jack for line-level sources. Preamplifiers and phantom power are included on each input channel, while MIDI is supported.
Meanwhile, the MultiMix 16 USB FX is a 16-channel audio mixer with digital effects and an integral USB interface, also targeted primarily at the semi-professional market.
Described by the manufacturer as offering ‘easy integration into a musician’s computer-based recording environment’, the MultiMix 16 USB FX offers a selection of eight XLR inputs with switchable phantom power supply, plus ¼-inch ins and RCA connectors for line-sources. A sweepable parametric EQ is included on channels one to six.
