Iosono and AFMG enhance acoustic environments

Iosono and AFMG have announced that they have teamed up to develop a new approach to enhance the audio in virtual acoustical environments. The new approach enables listeners to simultaneously enjoy an identical acoustic experience, no matter where they are sitting in a venue.
According to AFMG, concert halls, cinemas, and sound recording studios can all benefit significantly from the solution. ‘Architects will hold their presentations not only with a slideshow of photo-realistic pictures, but “talking live” within the acoustical situation of the room simulated in EASE,’ explained Stefan Feistel, manager of AFMG.
The two companies will employ Iosono’s IPC100 audio processor and real-time convolution filters calculated by AFMG’s EASE to render a spatially oriented auralisation throughout a large listening area. The IPC100 works by expanding the virtual sound field of small to mid-sized loudspeaker arrangements using Iosono’s spatial reproduction algorithms based on wave-field synthesis.
Using EASE, the Iosono team can simulate a cinema’s acoustics, even before an auditorium is built. EASE allows for a fast verification of acoustic environments and facilitates realistic system designs.
A dynamic binaural simulation module, tailored by AFMG to the needs of Iosono, enables a high-resolution preview of an Iosono installation during the planning phase, designed to provide a ‘sound basis’ for every project.
