JBL’s VerTec LAC II V 1.1 simplifies system design

JBL Professional has released V 1.1 of its VerTec line array calculator II (LAC II) software, which builds upon the previous version’s ability to simplify system design, whilst offering an expanded feature set.

New VerTec subcompact line array accessories such as the VT4886-SF, VT4886-DF88, and VT4886-DF89 are included with LAC II V 1.1. The updated version also features parametric EQ (compatible with JBL DrivePack, Crown Audio I-Tech/I-Tech HD and dbx 4800). Signal delay functions are linked for all VT4889, VT4888, VT4887A, VT4887 and VT4886 enclosures, including DrivePack models, while subwoofer model delays remain individually selectable. Additionally, LAC II V 1.1 features an SPL mapping view probe (displaying XY coordinates and SPL).

With the software it is possible to manually create circuit groups so that EQ, delay and gain are linked. It also offers a user-selectable auto-update, and a check for updates can be launched from the help menu.

As with the previous LAC II software, V 1.1 features acoustical modelling via the graphical representation of results, including SPL mapping, 0dB Isobar, and SPL attenuation modes. User guidelines allow for up to 24 enclosures per array.

The manufacturer has also launched the AW (All Weather) Series loudspeakers: a family of lightweight, two-way, full-range loudspeaker systems that are suited for outdoor applications.

The AW Series comprises five different loudspeaker models: the AW295, AW266, AW526, AW595, and AW566. These each incorporate JBL’s differential drive dual voice coil and dual magnetic gap low-frequency 12- and 15-inch woofers, a 2,432H high-frequency 38mm exit, and a 75mm voice coil compression driver.

The speakers are equipped with a 400W 70/100V transformer, and a 14-gauge stainless steel grille, backed with open cell foam and a stainless steel mesh, which provides protection in the harshest environments. A stainless steel U-type mounting bracket is also included, and allows for easy installation on flat surfaces or in 90-degree corners.
