Kaltman Creations identifies RF interference
Published: PRODUCTS
In an era when the RF spectrum is under more scrutiny than ever before, Kaltman Creations LLC has released the very timely RF-intermodPRO, PC-based software application designed to aid the calculation, prediction and identification of the intermodulation distortion of wireless devices.
RF-intermodPRO – released under the Invisible Waves product banner – operates either as a standalone PC application or as a plug-in option for the Invisible Waves RF Command Centre. It is intended for users of professional wireless microphone systems, A/V installers using wireless devices, frequency coordinators and broadcasters.
Intermodulation distortion is created when two or more transmission frequencies mix together and form unwanted harmonic signals, often referred to as ‘spurious emissions’. The newly generated frequencies can cause interference to any transmitter attempting to occupy the same RF-spurious emissions space.
RF-intermodPRO graphically displays the predicted locations of these intermod components and assists in the frequency coordination process. Based on the user’s choice of transmitter models from a device library or custom inventory list, the software will advise on the best selection of transmitters and frequencies.
Additionally, the software reportedly defines and identifies unusable RF spectrum spaced around local DTV channels and other local interference. Most importantly, it has been designed for ease-of-use with features including one-click group calculations and drag-and-drop spectral graphics.
