KSM range

Shure has added two new models to its KSM series of microphones, including the KSM42 side-address, cardioid condenser for vocal recording.

With a tailored frequency response and extensive internal and external pop filtering, the single-pattern, dual-diaphragm design of the KSM42 exhibits a dynamic range and proximity control for studio applications. The dual-diaphragm design comes with an active front, ultra thin, 2.5 micron, low mass one-inch Mylar diaphragm together with an integrated three-stage mesh grille, which guards against wind and breath noise. An open cage rubber suspension shock mount with low-profile magnetic pop filter produces a natural space between the performer and the microphone.

Also new is the KSM44A, a large-diaphragm, side-address condenser that can be used in a variety of live and studio applications. Boasting cardioid, omni-directional and bidirectional polar patterns, the microphone also includes a subsonic filter to eliminate rumble from mechanical vibration below 17Hz, plus a three-position switchable low-frequency filter to reduce unwanted stand vibration noise and counteract proximity effect.
