LA4X arrives from L-Acoustics

The LA4X is the latest amplified controller devised by L-Acoustics, based upon a 4x4 i/o architecture combining the benefits of self-powered speaker packages with the flexibility of outboard DSP and amplification.
The speaker management and amplification systems can operate in three different connectivity modes. LA4X is a green amplified controller that relies on a universal switch-mode power supply suitable for mains from 90V to 265V. The SMPS features power factor correction which maximises the amplifier efficiency and takes advantage of nearly 100 per cent of the electrical power available with a very high tolerance to unstable mains. The Class-D amplification circuits ensure the LA4X energy-efficiency for minimal heat dissipation, delivering 4 x 1,000W RMS power at 8- or 4-ohms.
The LA4X inputs are available in analogue or digital format. Four cascaded 24-bit A/D converters at the front-end produce an encoding dynamic of 130dB, whilst AES/EBU digital inputs operate with sample rate converters from 44.1kHz to 192kHz. Fall-back functions also allow redundant audio paths to be made. A combination of IIR and FIR filters generate linearised phase curves to improve impulse responses. The pool of eight IIR and three FIR filters, an array morphing tool and the 1,000ms of delay per channel transform the amplified controller into an EQ station. Furthermore, the L-Drive protection system carries out a dual analysis of signal level in real-time and RMS.
Complex system scans can also be undertaken by integrating the L-NET Ethernet-based network. With a high speed data transfer protocol of 100Mbit/s, up to 253 units can be controlled and monitored in real-time by the LA Network Manager software. For third-party management solutions, the French manufacturer provides SNMP support to offer integration via third party control and monitoring systems.
