Lab.gruppen unveils install specific amplifiers
Published: PRODUCTS
Described by the manufacturer as ‘the new integration superpower’, Lab.gruppen’s 4-channel install-dedicated D Series amplifiers aim to provide installers with ‘genuinely open interoperability’, ie a platform that can seamlessly integrate with a wide range of digital audio and control protocols.
The D Series is available in two variants. One model features Lake Processing DSP with analogue, AES and a dual-redundant Dante network solution. New software on this model is stated to provide extensive integration potential with most key manufacturers. The second model is equipped with Biamp’s Tesira DSP platform, with AVB audio and control.
Each model is available in 8,000W, 12,000W, and 20,000W power configurations, all of which feature the manufacturer’s new Rational Power Management (RPM) technology, which aims to provides flexible power allocation without compromising on channel counts or total system power. Lab.gruppen states that RPM is able to deliver 5,000W output on any single channel – even on the lower power models – leaving the rest to be distributed across the remaining channels.
The same energy saving technology as on the PLM 20000Q, is also onboard the D Series. This includes Power Factor Correction (PFC) and low peak mains current draw to power output ratio. Additionally, new configuration software called Cafe uses an ESP (Equipment Specification Predictor) design aid to provide project recommendations regarding the optimal model and number of amps, heat generated, channel distribution, and current draw.
