Lake Controller v57 described as industry first

Lab.gruppen has released a version 5.7 firmware update for the Lake Controller declaring that it represents greater flexibility for end-users and optimised system performance. The manufacturer has described the update as ‘an industry first’.

Among the improvements introduced in v5.7 is support for Greybox processing from within the PLM Series, and the manufacturer has also released accompanying firmware for both the PLM Powered Loudspeaker Management range and the LM 26 digital audio loudspeaker processor.

According to the manufacturer, one of the benefits of the new version is support for EAW Focusing through the direct recall of EAW Greybox files into any PLM Series device via the Lake Controller software. The company is also promising ‘new levels of functionality’ as PLM Series products now support a new processing module type. The filtering can be used to create crossover and driver EQ, facilitating linear phase, minimum phase or arbitrary phase filters – as well as ‘classic’ crossovers and specific driver EQ.

This feature is intended to unite the loudspeaker optimisation of EAW Focusing parameters with the Lake Mesa EQ input stage on the PLM Series platform, reportedly for the first time. Users can now recall Greybox output processing files directly into PLM Series products and then create groups and tune even the largest EAW loudspeaker system at any granularity, all via the Lake Controller – negating the additional expense and inconvenience of a separate system EQ processor.

Håkan Gustafsson, product manager for Lake, discussed the latest updates: ‘The supporting of EAW Focusing, coupled with the Lake Mesa EQ and the powerful performance of the PLM Series, means that we can provide the end user with unrivalled functionality’, he enthused.

Other benefits include general speed improvements for Windows 7, multi-core processors and high-resolution screens as well as faster synchronisation between updated Lake Controllers and other networked devices. LM 26 users also benefit from critical improvements to Dante routing, synchronisation and general stability.

Lake Controller v5.7 is available to download now from the Lab.gruppen website.
