Latest Class-D amps from SAE promise unmatched dynamic output

Two new installation Class-D amplifiers have been introduced by SAE Audio. The Voice 6000 is being specifically targeted at the KTV market, while the Power Plant series amplifiers are intended to cater for medium to large sized multichannel installations.

Housed in the manufacturers 19-inch aluminium body rack design, the Power Plant series amp boasts the ability to deliver up to 14,400W for high-density power applications as well as a Regulated Switched Mode Power Supply (R-SMPS) for each channel for power stability. According to the manufacturer, this results in the ‘highest dynamic range and the lowest distortion in the industry’.

Connections on the Power Plant amp consist of XLR ports for the inputs and SpeakOn NL4 connectors for the outputs. The rear panel also accommodates a routing mode selector (stereo/bridged/parallel) as well as a temperature Automatic Gain Selector and a mains circuit breaker.

The current models in the Power Plant Series cater to different power outputs. The Power Plant 3200 is capable of delivering 2 x 14,000W at 4-ohms bridged or 4 x 750W at 4-ohms stereo. The larger Power Plant 10000 and 20000 amplifiers output 4 x 1,800W and 8 x 1,800W at 4-ohms stereo respectively.

Sae’s new Voice 6000 is also a Class-D amplifier and features the same aluminium body rack design as the Power Plant series models. The aim is to provide the KTV industry with superior installation audio for their venues, and to this end the amp has been optimised for vocal reproduction. The unit is intended to be deployed in medium sized bar/café installations as well as used for portable applications. In terms of power, the power modules output up to 2,100W (2 x 1,050W at 4-ohms bridged) and also features a SMPS unit.

Also like the Power Plant models, input connections are XLR and outputs are SpeakOn NL4 connections. The rear panel contains an input sensitivity switch (0.775V/1V/38dB). The front panel features independent protection and clip warning indicators as well as a channel independent power control, selectable at -3-, -6-, -10- and -20dB values. The unit weights 6.4kg.
