Having already received a nomination for a German Design Award, LD Systems’ new U500 series offers true diversity wireless radio microphones and guitar systems, available in 823-832MHz, 863-865MHz, 655-679MHz and 584-608 MHz frequency ranges for licence-free operation. Additionally, the German manufacturer’s Curv 500 and MAUI 5 speaker systems are also now available in a white finish, with a design that aims to be both neutral and unobtrusive.
The UHF wireless systems in the U500 series feature automatic channel search, one-touch infrared synchronisation, and user control on OLED displays. In addition, there are also headset, lavalier and clip-on microphone U500 wireless systems, as well as a version for electric and bass guitars. Exchange capsules with hyper cardioid features are available for the handheld transmitters’ replaceable heads.
The bodypacks and wireless microphones also boast a battery level display, and can be given names to provide differentiation when several systems are being used at the same time. A total of 96 channels are available and spread over eight groups, with 12 channels each, and up to six systems can be operated at the same time. Additionally, the outputs on the single and double receivers can be switched from line level to instrument level. An adjustable transmission strength of up to 30mW will also be available, with a frequency range of 60Hz to 16kHz. Depending on use, the handheld transmitters and the bodypack reportedly have a battery life of up to 30 hours.
Meanwhile, LD Systems’ CURV 500 AV Set, newly available in a white finish, offers 380W and a maximum SPL of 122dB. The system incorporates a 10-inch bass reflex subwoofer with a Class-D amplifier and a four-channel mixer with 16 digital effects presets. Measuring 120mm x 120mm x 120mm, both satellite speakers are operated via SmartLink adapters. For additional power, eight array satellites can be used for stereo playback. Audio files can be streamed to the system via Bluetooth.
Like the Curv 500 AVS, the MAUI 5 column system can also act as a combined PA and monitor system. It weights 11kg, with a peak power output of 800W, and is the smallest unit of the MAUI series. A maximum SPL of 120dB can be produced and the system integrates a multi-pin connection system for quick assembly of the column system. Bluetooth also allows for several different sources to be connected simultaneously.
