Linear Acoustic releases its ‘most advanced product to date’

Linear Acoustic has released what it calls its ‘most advanced product to date’, named the Aero.1000.

The 1RU Aero.1000 is the first product to feature the manufacturer’s Carbon Hybrid Processing, which takes full advantage of the new version of the control data already found in the Dolby Digital signal. With this functionality, broadcasters can choose to keep permanent control over dynamic range where necessary.

The Aero.1000 comprises up to eight AeroMax audio processing engines – each with UpMax upmixing – plus up to eight Dolby decoders and encoders, up to eight Nielsen Watermark encoders and 3GHz SDI with included video delay. Additionally, it is capable of handling up to 64 channels of audio (encoded or baseband) via AES, SDI, analogue, or optional DVB-ASI.

In an additional release, the manufacturer has introduced the LQ-1 loudness meter, which is a straightforward and accurate metering solution optimised for measuring loudness in digital television facilities.

The LQ-1 supports all ITU, ATSC, and EBU loudness metering standards, and it includes Dolby Dialogue intelligence to measure the range of long-form content more accurately. Input and output signals are displayed alongside the ITU-R BS.1770-measured LKFS loudness and dialnorm metadata to provide instant verification of loudness compliance.

Comprehensive SDI, AES, analogue, and optional DVB-ASI inputs are followed by decoding for PCM, Dolby Digital (AC-3), Dolby Digital Plus, HE-AAC (v1 + v2), Dolby E, and MPEG-I Layer II audio. The LQ-1 provides a selectable LtRt or LoRo downmix via the AES, analogue, and headphone outputs and supports metadata emulation and auditioning Associated Dialogue (AD) mixing.

In a third announcement, Linear Acoustic also released the LA-5280 standalone platform for encoding and decoding Dolby bitstreams and metadata.

The standard LA-5280 decodes Dolby Digital (AC-3), Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby E, HE-AAC (v1 and v2), and Mpeg-1 Layer II audio and provides metadata and downmix emulation. It also features an ITU-BS1770 loudness metre with Dolby Dialogue Intelligence.

Meanwhile, the Infrastructure Encoder version adds eight-channel Dolby E encoding via software key while a Transmission version adds Dolby Digital (AC-3), Dolby Digital Plus, and HE-AAC encoding via a factory- or field-installed module.
