Low cost handheld recorder from Tascam

Tascam has launched the DR-03 handheld recorder as bringing 24-bit recording to the market for ‘under $100’.
Recording to microSD media (with a 2GB card included) and boasting onboard stereo condenser mics, the recorder is reportedly ‘smaller than an energy bar’.
Among the recorder’s features are standard playback functions such as looping and variable speed audition to slow down music without changing the pitch. The unit has also been designed for low handling noise. Other features include up to 48kHz/24-bit WAV recording or MP3 recording modes, an auto recording mode that starts when the input exceeds a reference level, a limiter, a low cut filter and auto gain control 1/8-inch stereo microphone/line input, a 1/8-inch stereo headphone output, a built in speaker and a USB 2.0 connection for file transfer. A 96x96 backlit LCD display has also been incorporated into the design.
Also new is the LR-10 instrument trainer and recorder, which is being released in tandem with the GB-10 guitar and bass phrase trainer. The LR-10 is capable of slowing down and looping MP3 files without affecting pitch, while recording 44.1kHz/16-bit WAV files to an SD card. Both a microphone and speaker is included.
