Mackie DL series expands with eight-channel DL806

Following the success of the iPad-controlled DL1608 mixer in 2012, Mackie has now introduced an eight-channel version named the DL806. The compact, wireless mixer is also joined by a personal monitor mixer app named My Fader, which connects to any DL Series mixer over Wi-Fi.

The DL806 boasts eight Onyx mic preamps and 24-bit Cirrus Logic AD/DA converters, plus 4-band EQ, gate and compression on inputs, 31-band GEQ, global reverb and delay, the simultaneous use of up to 10 wireless devices, and four aux sends for monitor mixes.

Notably, the manufacturer is referring to the combination of the DL Series mixers and its recently introduced DLM Series loudspeakers as the DL/DLM System – a full live sound solution for small to medium-sized venues. Part of that solution is the My Fader app, which works with the DL1608 and DL806 and runs a user interface and workflow derived from Mackie’s Master Fader iPad app.

Version 1.0 of the app has been launched for the iPhone or iPod Touch, allowing control over multiple input channels at once plus an output selector for quick access to any mix. Channel muting is also included alongside detailed channel ID, metering, a master fader, and the ability to recall from any snapshots from the current show on the DL mixer. Crucially, the app includes an access control feature so users can be limited to only control their assigned aux.
