Major software update for BlackBox Recorder series

JoeCo has released version 2.2 software for its BlackBox Recorder series. The updated software contains a number of features designed to allow a user to work more efficiently, and includes various features borrowed from the manufacturer’s BlackBox BBR64-Madi and Dante recorders.

JoeCo insists that despite featuring some changes, the user interface remains simple to use. These changes include the incorporation of clarifying clock sources, and the inclusion of a new function that makes the transport controls flash while an operation is pending.

First introduced in the BBR64-MADI development, version 2.2 also includes a pre fade listen system, which allows for a more rapid sweep through of the channels with a quick return to ‘mix’ output.

A timesaving function highlighted by the manufacturer is the fact that timecode reading is quicker and more accurate. Additionally, master slave performance functionality has been enhanced, and further support has been added for particular drive types. JoeCo claims that with version 2.2, it is now faster to enter record and to finalise any Broadcast WAV files created.

The updated software runs background checks on the drive to create a more accurate map of free space to further speed up the process of entering record. The player software add-on supports v0 BWF files, which, amongst more enhancements is encapsulated in an upgraded field update manager.

Version 2.2 software can be downloaded free of charge from the end user area of the JoeCo website.
