Marani applies FIR filtering

The LPP480A has been designed by Marani to improve upon the DSP functionality of the previously released DPA480 and includes the addition of a FIR filtering tool set. It is a speaker management system offering four analogue inputs and eight analogue outputs as well as a pair of AES/EBU inputs, managed by two of the manufacturer’s M716 DSP engines.

The system also includes 24-bit AD/DA converters and each input channel gives the option for 13-band parametric equalisation, gain control, noise gate, RMS compressor, internal white/pink noise generator or configurable delay. Meanwhile, the outputs all allow for up to 8-band parametric equalisation in addition to the 6dB/octave up to 48dB/octave slopes provided by the IIR crossover filters. Peak limiter, RMS compressor and configurable delay are also available on each output.

Output X-over filtering can be selected as the IIR style, including Hp/Lp filters or FIR on each output, as well a 512 FIR filter taps which can be set as Hp/Lp/Bp. On each of the inputs, 1024 asymmetrical FIR taps are available. Input sources can also be routed and mixed in any I/O ratio and for remote configuration and control, the LPP480A can be connected via USB, RS485 or TCP-IP, while the remote control PC software enables simultaneous control up to 32 units.
