Mayah offers remote recording tool for musicians

Designed to provide musicians and performers with a tool that allows them to record audio remotely via The Cloud, Mayah Communications has introduced TripleR. Specifically, the manufacturer’s latest offering is designed for situations where studios or production facilities need musicians that are away from the studio to record material. By allowing them to record from a remote location, this saves on the cost of bringing a musician in for what may be only a few additional bars of music, and allows the material to be recorded quicker.

TripleR combines the transmission of audio and simplifies MIDI control through the IT cloud. A performer can listen to live playback from the production software with minimum latency by selecting the open source edge technology: Opus codec algorithm. Not limited to recording, TripleR is also a fully operational PC audio board, and all controls are accessible through the browser and via a set of front panel controls. These include gain control, mic/instrument input level, phantom power, and pad headphone volume options.

By utilising the Opus audio codec algorithm and MIDI, audio can be send from the production site to the musician, and by then using the imPload TripleR, a user can transmit this control data back to the studio.

Front panel options include a combined XLR/balanced 6.3 jack socket, two headphones out, level and mixing control, a mic/line switch, phantom power and a mic pad. Meanwhile, the rear panel features the following I/Os:  balanced 6.3 analogue in and out (left/right), USB to PC, MID and AESI in/out and a USB device link.
