Peavey has announced the immediate availability of the MediaMatrix NION nE DSP platform, which has been designed for cost efficiency in mid-market applications.
Built on the same foundation as the NION n3 and nX, NION nE combines high-performance audio algorithms and a powerful configurable DSP core with MediaMatrix NWare control software.
NION nE supports up to 32-channels of analogue audio and up to 64 channels of AES digital audio via four Nio card slots in the NION nE frame, using the same Nio cards as a standard NION frame, such as the Nio-AEC echo cancellation card. NION nE also accepts optional CobraNet or Dante digital audio transport network cards. Rear ports for Ethernet control, EIA422/485 serial control and RS-232 serial control are on the rear of the rack mounted unit, for which frame configuration is made possible via the internal web server and user interface.
In addition, the manufacturer has revealed the MediaMatrix nWall 2.0 surface-mount audio interface panel which converts audio from analogue to a digital stream so it can be routed via CobraNet right at the panel.
By converting two balanced XLR inputs and two 1/8-inch inputs into a digital audio stream at the panel, the nWall 2.0 greatly reduces buzz, hum, ground loops and other cable issues, thus eliminating the need for isolation and impedance matching interfaces, whilst replacing long analogue cable runs with a single Cat-5e UTP cable. The new interface is intended to offer flexible remote configuration and deployment options, fitting in a standard two-gang NEMA back box. It is powered over the attached network cable from a network PoE-capable network switch and the XLR connectors can be configured for multiple audio input sensitivities from -56, -26 to +4dBu, via a rotary switch located on the unit’s front panel. Crimp connectors negate the need to solder and terminate and as such further reduce delivery time and installation costs. The XLR inputs support electret condenser and dynamic microphones plus line-level audio with 15V DC phantom power.
Finally, any number of nWall panels can be patched to any number of MediaMatrix NION processing nodes, eliminating the need for patch panels.
